Thompson Plaza, Singapore
Travel photograph at Thompson Plaza, Upper Thompson Road, Singapore.
The design of Thompson plaza is simple yet dynamic with various transitional design elements for active social interaction. Two ramps link levels of different headroom beautifully in the middle of the atrium while an escalator sending people directly up to the third floor from ground level. The significance of ramp is that unlike staircases, people are likely to observe foot steps when they climb, while ramp gives a better tendency of observing the surrounding. Third level is recessed in compare to the second level and people may observes people below when they walk along the walkway. The entire atmosphere is that interactive with social dynamics affected by space and form of the building.
