Putrajaya 2011

A visit to Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur.

Putrajaya is an urban area designed with consideration of pedestrian walkway but however turned into a tragedy where no people are walking along the pavements, and it contributes to an even hotter whether which is 4 degree celsius higher than the city of Kuala Lumpur. There are many water front development as there is a river across the city. Most of the buildings in the city is in a form of an icon, a symbol rather than an idea in shaping behaviors. Most of the building has a strong islamic expression and in the perceptual sense, it creates discrimination. The current population can be seen, are mostly malays, and the branding in the malls is conceived as being targeted towards certain category of population. The iconic buildings were peceived as one kind, a postmodern imagery where it symbolise the capitalism, the private, rather than a people orientated form of construction.
